The Darley AwardsThe Darley Awards were founded in 1987 to honor the best in Arabian horse racing. This distinguished ceremony recognizes the most outstanding racehorses, jockeys, owners, trainers and breeders of the Arabian community. Award ceremonies present an opportunity for those involved in Arabian racing to celebrate its virtues and award its best. The Darley Committee selects the nominees and a Voting Academy decides the winners. The Voting Academy is made up of knowledgeable individuals within the racing community. For more information on the Darley Awards and racing weekend, please contact the Arabian Jockey Club at (303) 696-4523. With the exception of the Arabian Cup Championships, no other event brings as much attention to Arabian Racing as the Darleys. For registration and a schedule for The Darley Awards, visit The Arabian Racing Cup. Arabian Racing CupThe Arabian Racing Cup is an international breeder's incentive program dedicated to the promotion of Arabian racing by expanding public awareness, creating prestigious races to highlight our industry's racehorses and enhancing the value of those horses by making award payments to the nominators of racing sires, mares and runners. The Cup was originally chartered as a Tennessee non-profit corporation in 1983. Founded by Dr. Sam Harrison, the Cup offered purses and awards for those breeders and owners that nominated their stallions and foals. Since its inception, the program has grown both in numbers of horses nominated and the amount of money paid out in awards. In 1995, the Arabian Racing Cup produced its inaugural Arabian Cup Championships. Consisting of six races, the Cup drew the best Arabian racehorses in the country to run for over $400,000 in purses. Surrounded by a weekend of social affairs, the Cup Championships are the most important event of the year in our industry. For more information on the Arabian Racing Cup, call (303) 696-4523. Arabian Cup ChampionshipsThe Arabian Cup Championships began in 1995 with the notion that the nation’s best Arabian racehorses should come together on a given weekend and make their cases toward one of the divisional championships. The Cup Championships have grown into Arabian Racing’s biggest event with six Grade I stakes and purses totaling over $400,000. Coupled with the races themselves, is a weekend of social activity that makes the Championships the "don’t miss" event of the year. For a current schedule of the Arabian Cup Championships visit The Arabian Racing Cup. Arabian Cup Championship RacesArabian Cup Championship Juvenile (GI) - 3-year-old colts and geldings, 1 mile.
